Failure to Prevent Fraud (ECCTA)

Interactive Scenario | ~15 min Buy Full Course

What you'll practise

Detecting the Red Flags

A routine reconciliation flags a rounding error. By Friday, you'll discover it's a £180K fraud — and a junior employee was manipulated into enabling it.

Reasonable Procedures Defence

Under the ECCTA, your only defence is proving you had reasonable fraud prevention procedures in place. Did you? Can you prove it? The SFO will want to see evidence.

Third-Party Facilitation

The fraud was committed by someone associated with your organisation — not an employee. The ECCTA doesn't care about the distinction. Navigate third-party liability and associated persons.

Investigation & Escalation

The board wants it handled quietly. The SFO guidance says self-reporting may help. Your insurance requires notification within 48 hours. Every decision creates a paper trail.

Built for UK organisations subject to the ECCTA

This scenario is designed for finance teams, compliance officers, operations managers, procurement staff, and senior leaders at large UK organisations. Covers the ECCTA 2023 Failure to Prevent Fraud offence, the reasonable procedures defence, and SFO enforcement guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What LMS platforms are supported?
Any LMS that supports SCORM 1.2, which includes Moodle, TalentLMS, Cornerstone, Docebo, Canvas, Blackboard, Chamilo, and hundreds more. If your LMS accepts SCORM packages, this course will work.
What do learners actually do in the course?
Each module is an interactive scenario where learners discover a £180K fraud enabled by a manipulated junior employee. They navigate the ECCTA 2023 Failure to Prevent Fraud offence, build reasonable procedures defences, and handle third-party facilitation liability.
When does the Failure to Prevent Fraud offence apply?
The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 Failure to Prevent Fraud offence came into force on 1 September 2025. It applies to large organisations with no revenue threshold — if a person associated with your organisation commits fraud to benefit the organisation, you're liable unless you can prove reasonable procedures were in place.
Who needs this training?
Finance teams, compliance officers, operations managers, procurement staff, and senior leaders at large UK organisations. Anyone who could be involved in detecting, preventing, or escalating fraud — or whose actions could inadvertently facilitate it.
How long does the course take?
2 hours across 5 interactive scenarios. Each module takes 20-25 minutes depending on the learner's pace and how many decision paths they explore.
Can I try before I buy?
Absolutely. The demo scenario is available to play for free, no email required. It's the same quality and format as the full course.
What is your refund policy?
Full refund within 14 days if the SCORM packages have not been uploaded to an LMS. Contact support@blend.training.
