Soft Skills Training

UK Government

Brief

Blend worked with the UK government on Project Relearn, an initiative focused on improving access to emotional intelligence and soft-skills education. The challenge: these skills are increasingly critical, yet often overlooked in traditional education — especially for young people with limited access to quality learning due to cost, infrastructure, or location.

Discovery & Analysis

Research showed a growing gap between the business world's focus on soft skills and their absence in many educational institutions. Working with experts, Blend identified key skills to prioritise: self-awareness, social awareness, communication, and confidence. The learner profile focused on secondary-level students and young adults — a stage where identity, direction, and future decisions begin to take shape. Accessibility and mobile-first delivery were essential.

Design & Development

Inspired by proven microlearning platforms, Blend designed a mobile-first, gamified learning concept built around short, personalised, scenario-based lessons. The focus was on: • Bite-sized learning that fits real lives • Clear progression and motivation • Inclusive access regardless of background or location This resulted in an animated proof of concept with clean UI, intuitive UX, and meaningful gamification.

What this means for your organization

When learning is accessible, personalised, and behaviour-focused, it scales impact — reaching broader audiences while developing the human skills that modern education and work increasingly demand.
